Once saved always saved can be debated. Don't put God/Christ to the test. Don't take chances. We're not under the law but Christ said if you love me keep my Commandments. If you love me. Listen again he said if you love me. And Christians without understanding will/may read this and conclude its the devil deceiving them.
Yes this pertains to Christians who are biblical true Christians today as well. He is the door and all that came before him were thieves and robbers. There are people trying to enter in some other way that is not of God. We have the same thing today people trying to enter in by work or by some counterfeit Christ that did not die for them or some false gospel. He lays down his life for the sheep but those who are not true shepherds will lead them astray and not stand up for them. True brethren hear his voice and they obey him. They enter into the door and don't try some false counterfeit method. He has another fold he has to bring. I believe this is the Gentiles.
In his day what did his father GOD give HIM? The Apostles/disciples and such people as John the Baptist but he said Salvation is of the JEW and they know what they worship! But he has another fold to bring.
John 10:28

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. He did not say everlasting life to eternal life!!!
This pertains to True Christians. A chap did a sermon on this recently. Remember the Galatians, the Ephesians, the Corinthians such groups weren't perfect. Doesn't exist the way we would think of it. Although there is no condemnation under Christ but should we put Christ to an open shame?
There was a member of the Corinthians that was involved in fornication. There are people in the church that are doing the same thing. This is very serious sin. "It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles—that a man has his father’s wife!"
So true Christians when involved in such sin can eat to their own damnation and bring a curse to themselves.
1 Corinthians 11:29

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
Whom are we abiding in? Is it really worth losing your soul to fornicate and not to abide in Christ. To trample the blood. You must renew your mind and deny yourself.
John 15:6
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
Just pertains to True Believers who fall back into the world and into a life of sin. The consequence when you die in your sin is a pain that is indescribable of punishment. No prayers are heard in hell and you can't die.
2 Peter 2:21
“For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.”

God did not spare Lucifer who became known as Satan nor his angels. They were created higher than men yet he did not spare them and they were kicked out of heaven. What makes you think if you don't abide in the vine that you won't be cast forth and into the Fire.
Romans 11: 21
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
If you as a true Christian continue in the goodness of God as there's a reward. You don't want to abuse grace and his mercy. It's not written in vain to fear the lord because it's the beginning of wisdom. Now of course we have John 3:1. (Amen) and we also know that God is faithful to forgive us if we confess our sins but should we persist in trample the blood or abusing grace. As written God forbid. Otherwise we run the risk of being cut off. There are back sliders and we are not the master Vine who does prune the branches. We are not the authority but we are given certain rights of authority when we are in Christ Jesus our lord.
Romans 11:22
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
What happens to the unrighteous. Especially if they are given many chances. Where will they appear. They probably will appear at the Council of God to stand trial for the life of they lived and what they did in and out of the body. Then they will probably appear in Hell's fire which is real and where the worm never dies. If they die in their sins they shall perish.
1 Peter 4:18
“And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

Even when somebody becomes a new convert this should be evident. A True Believer should ponder the word of God and the fool has said in their heart there is no God. It is appointed for men to live and die once and then the judgment. People do judge a book by the cover and they make excuses for it. The world loves its own and as Christ said there are those that he chose out of the world that the world hates because they don't belong to the world. And the reason I say all this is because the true believers should know not to contemplate sin. It's hard enough living in the world that hates God but loves deception and all manner of iniquity.
Romans 6:1
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?”

When we have received the knowledge of the truth we are believers. Because the truth has set us free and what is loosed in heaven will be loosed on Earth. ( when Christ truly sets you free you are free) we persist to contemplate sin as if we're gaining something we are putting God to the test and our own souls in peril. Therefore their remaineth no more sacrifice for sin. Are we abiding in the Vine? We should ponder these things and meditate on the word of God day and night. Christians should pray for each other.
Hebrews 10:26 26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins..
