Their foolish hearts darkened
Have you read or heard the Bible passage regarding the rudiments of the world and not after Christ. Colossians 2:8
What about that human saying you are what you eat. Or even the other one birds of a feather flock together. But God knows the heart of men as Jesus Christ of Nazareth knew the hearts of the Pharisees. Romans 8:27-29
You know you go out there and once you become a True Believer and you ask people if they know Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Most people will have heard of him but also a good portion of them will not have clean tongues. Many of them will have a distorted view of Christ. They just see him as this very loving guy almost like he's willing to accept all manner of sins and he just loves everybody so much. You know the hippie Jesus. Many of them will be smoking cigarettes or even swearing. So many people out there mainly women are dressed like nightlife. Fashion that glorifies the sins of the world. (jeans with holes in them for example) Women might call it fashion and it might be appealing to men but I am comforted to know there are Godly women who fear God and should be praised. Many model the ethics/morals of the devil. He has many in his clutch.
This might be a little odd to you but you go into a library and you see all these people sitting around even looking/studying with books and computers. Now in the modern day so many people are on the computer whether it be a laptop or even their phone walking and talking. How many people are contemplating the gospel of God? How many people truly know who truly created them? Well John 2:16 again. You see Christ not only did many great works that can fill volumes as they say but he cursed cities for failing to believe or repent of their sins. Today in a huge world the sins are an ocean off the richter scale but that's what was prophesied would happen.
What I read about a Christian from a couple hundred years ago back who I believe was born again he understood that people put more faith and love in their pets and appear to love them more and have a relationship with them then they do with the true Living God. But look what God says himself.
Romans 1:21
“Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”
Of course there's good amongst the bad and we can't be pessimistic, nor negative about everything. People work hard but how many people live a true life where their wages are actually bringing forth fruit meat repentance. Will their fruits matter to God and are they acceptable? And we can debate this. I mean take a life that maybe lives 90 years on the Earth and they have joy, they partied and were married most of their life but did not follow the truth and do you think their fruits meet for repentance if their heart was not born again. You see they might think that they're good and that they're going to heaven based on their own thoughts & merits but if their heart has not been regenerated which is the new birth how are they going to stand before God? John 3:3
This is how it is in a fallen world. You know I remember being at a cousin's house when I was younger and the hockey game was on and the men were mesmerized and the wife was trying to get the attention and the dad told the sons to tell your mother to go off because she was an annoyance. You see what matters to God is the regeneration of the heart. The most important thing is to love each other and to show some sort of respect and holiness. Not to degrade or put down the hockey game. But what fruits are you displaying? See on the day of judgment when people hear Christ never knew them it is for iniquity. lawlessness. Look at this as he said...
[37] Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great commandment. [39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [40] On these two commandments.
Ephesians Chapter 2
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Romans Chapter 10
